The Book of Revelation, Part 12: Chapters 10 and 11

Topics include:
(1) Discussion of the vision of the mighty angel, messenger of God: a theophany, the pre-incarnate Christ. Discussion of a related passage is in Daniel 10-12; 
(2) In the pause between the 6th and 7th trumpets: the words of woe are parallel to Ezekiel 2-3; 
(3) Chapter 11, parallel to Ezekiel 40-42: Gives both a historical/theological view of the Romans trampling the temple for 3-1/2 years and a type of the ultimate eschatological destruction of Jerusalem and the whole world. Jerusalem was leveled in 70 AD and will be again ... a microcosm of the whole world; 
(4) The two witnesses: clear parallels to Moses and Elijah, with the obvious connection discussed by the Lord between Elijah and St John the Baptizer. They were martyred by the Satanic beast, and the ungodly rejoiced to be rid (supposedly) of their convicting words. Martyred in Jerusalem, which had descended into complete disobedience to God and perversity, hence the references to Sodom and Egypt; 
(5) The seventh trumpet; The Lord will return again, to judge the world of unrighteousness and to reward His servants the prophets and the saints, and to reign forever and ever.
