*Regret*
One day your soul
Will be plucked away
As if a wildflower
Was torn out
From the comfort
Of not seeing
The most important
Meaning of your life,
Hidden in plain sight
In your heart,
And when your stem
Is lifted towards
The endless sky,
Petals of undone
Falling in the still air,
The earth would seem
So small
And that tiny meadow
You thought
Was your home,
In fact, becomes
A lonely spot
In the timeless flight
Of life,
And when your light
Meets the Light of God,
You suddenly realize
That you could have shared
Your love
With that stranger
Who looked straight into your eyes,
Begging for your mercy
With his last hope in you,
But you left him
Empty-handed
Forever.
