Meditation on Scripture: 1Pet. 5:7 "God Cares For Us"

“Place all your cares on Him because he cares for you” (1Pet. 5:7)

Meditation:
St. Peter does not say: place your big cares on Him, but all your cares. The One Who can do everything can do both what is small and what is great. The Lord, Who frees us from our deep sorrows and grave sins, also bears all our burdens.

The often-repetitive worries of life, annoying us and oppressing us because of their duration, often turn into real trials for us, like when a single speck of dust which gets into our eye temporarily affects our sight and causes pain. But life is not one indivisible whole: it is composed of various parts, each of which has its significance and use in the overall picture. Life is a fabric woven from various threads – woolen, silken, golden and paper; each thread is necessary for the strength and beauty of the fabric; as soon as one of them breaks, the balance is disturbed, and we suffer.

No mother, of course, will disregard the tears of her child, who entrusts to her his grief over a broken toy or unfulfilled pleasure; in the same way, our heavenly Father lovingly receives from us the burden of even the minor worries which oppress us.

A Christian values the realization that he can raise everything up in prayer to the One Whose patient endurance is inexhaustible. Whether we meet obstacles on our life’s journey, whether we fear what tomorrow may bring, whether we carry in our soul a painful desire, whether our family life is in disarray, or whether our burden is too great: let us entrust everything to the Lord, with complete faith that we will receive from Him both assistance and support, because He cares for us.

«Все заботы ваши возложите на Него, ибо Он печется о вас» (1Пет. 5:7)

Апостол Петр не говорит: возложите на Него большие ваши заботы – но все заботы. Тот, Кто все может, может совершить и малое, и великое. Господь, избавляющий нас от глубоких наших скорбей и тяжких грехов, несет за нас также и всякое наше бремя.

Часто повторяющиеся житейские заботы, надоедая нам и угнетая нас своею продолжительностью, обращаются нередко для нас в настоящие испытания, подобно тому, как одна пылинка, попавшая в глаз, отнимает на время зрение и причиняет боль. Но жизнь не есть одно нераздельное целое: она составлена вся из разных частей, из которых каждая имеет свое значение и свою пользу в общем итоге. Жизнь есть ткань, сотканная из различных нитей – шерстяных, шелковых, золотых, бумажных; каждая нить необходима для прочности и красоты этой ткани; как только обрывается одна из них, нарушается равновесие, и мы страдаем.

Конечно, никакая мать не отнесется с пренебрежением к слезам своего ребенка, который поверяет ей свое горе о сломанной игрушке или неудавшемся удовольствии; так и Отец наш небесный с любовью принимает от нас бремя гнетущих нас, даже и маловажных, забот.

Христианину дорого сознание, что он все может возносить в молитве к Тому, чье долготерпение неистощимо. Встречается ли препятствие на жизненном пути, боимся ли мы за завтрашний день, несем ли в душе болезненное желание, расстроилась ли семейная жизнь, или наш труд нам непосилен: возложим все на Господа с полною верою получить от Него и помощь и поддержку, ибо Он печется о нас.
