"Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life” (Jn. 6: 54)

Meditation:
This is what is announced to us in the sacrament of the Eucharist. Despite our countless sins and falls, despite our unworthiness, we can receive eternal life through faith in our Lord. For each of us, like for the prodigal son, the door to the father’s house is open. And our Heavenly Father is ready to meet us with unfailing love, when we are still far, if only we cry out in our hearts, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against You and am no longer worthy to be called Your son!” (Luke. 15: 21). Not only once and for all, but again and again, every day and every hour, we can turn to Him, and will never be rejected. The voice of the Lord summons us in the great Sacrament of the Eucharist to approach Him, trusting not in our righteousness, but in the One, “Who has become for us righteousness from God” (see 1 Cor. 1: 30).

We are unworthy to pick up even the crumbs which fall from the holy table, but He offers us His holy Body and His holy Blood, washing away our sins by this Divine Blood, so that we remain in Him and He in us forever.

«Ядущий Мою плоть и пиющий Мою кровь имеет жизнь вечную» (Ин. 6:54)

Вот что возвещается нам в Таинстве Причащения. Несмотря на наши бесчисленные грехи и падения, на наше недостоинство, мы можем получить жизнь вечную верою в Господа нашего. Каждому из нас, как блудному сыну, открыта дверь в родительский дом. И Отец Небесный готов с неизменной любовью встретить нас, когда мы еще далеко, лишь только мы воскликнем в сердце нашем: «Отче, я согрешил против неба и перед Тобою и уже недостоин называться сыном Твоим!» (Лк. 15:21). Не только раз навсегда, а снова и снова, ежедневно и ежечасно мы можем к Нему обращаться и никогда не будем отвергнуты. Голос Господа возвещает нам в великом Таинстве Причащения, чтобы мы приступали к Нему, надеясь не на свою праведность, но на Того, «Который сделался для нас от Бога праведностью» (ср. 1Кор. 1:30).

Мы недостойны поднять и крохи, падающей со святой трапезы, а Он предлагает нам Свое святое Тело и Свою святую Кровь, омывая нас от грехов этою Божественною Кровью, чтобы мы пребывали в Нем и Он в нас навеки.
