Meditation on Scripture: Mark 5:7 "Renouncing The Spirit Of Evil"

“What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?”  (Mark 5:7)

Meditation:
The spirit of malice, the spirit of pride, the spirit of Satan cannot have anything in common with the humble spirit of Christ’s love; fire and water can never merge into one, light and darkness cannot unite -- they have nothing in common. So everything in us that is impure, evil and sinful instinctively flees from the face of God. We approach him only in our best, brightest moments, only from the side that feels attracted to the One Whom it strives to emulate. 

Oh, how terrible, how frightful are the words: “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God”! The satanic spirit of denial and evil pronounced its own sentence with those words. Let them serve for us as a severe warning which should stop us at the threshold of sin. If we cross this threshold it will already be too late to turn back. We will be seized by a disgust of everything holy and pure, and we will feel with horror that we can no longer have anything in common with that bright Image which we see in the face of Christ.

Oh, let us fall down before Him and beg Him to draw us to Himself with His power and kindle in us the flame of love by His divine love, so that with a deep realization of our sinfulness and our insignificance, in the dust at His feet we renounce forever the spirit of evil which in our insanity dared to push away from us the Savior of the world.

День за днем. 13 (26) мая
«Что Тебе до меня, Иисус, Сын Бога Всевышнего» (Мк. 5:7)

Дух злобы, дух гордости, дух сатаны не может иметь ничего общего с кротким духом любви Христовой; огонь и вода никогда не могут слиться в одно, свет и тьма соединиться не могут – между ними ничего нет общего. Так -- все, что есть в нас нечистого, злого, греховного, инстинктивно бежит от лица Божия. Мы приближаемся к Нему лишь в наши лучшие, светлые минуты, лишь с той стороны, которая чувствует влечение к Тому, Кому стремится подражать.

О, как ужасны, как страшны эти слова: «Что Тебе до меня, Иисус, Сын Бога Всевышнего»! Сатанинский дух отрицания и злобы сам изрек себе приговор этими словами. Да послужат они нам грозным предостережением, которое должно остановить нас на пороге греха. Переступим порог, и будет уже трудно вернуться назад, нас охватит отвращение от всего святого и чистого, мы с ужасом почувствуем, что ничего уже общего не можем иметь с тем светлым Образом, который является нам в лице Христа.

О, припадем к Нему, умоляя Его привлечь нас Своею силой, зажечь в нас пламя любви Своею божественною любовью, чтобы мы в глубоком сознании нашей греховности, нашего ничтожества во прахе у Его ног отказались навеки от того духа злобы, который в своем безумии дерзнул оттолкнуть от себя Спасителя мира.
