The definitive rejection of the Kingship of Christ by the leaders of Judaism and their loss of Jacob's birthright thereby. The Church is now the chosen people of God, the "younger son" who took the elder son's blessing by faith in Christ. These are the sons of Abraham by faith. All who enter the Church (Jew or Gentile) do so by faith in Jesus Christ. By 65-70 AD Jews who believed in Christ saw their identity as Christian not Jewish. As for Romans 11:28ff, "many are called, but few are chosen". The chosen enter the Church and many more Jews will hopefully do so eventually.
