Description: 
Metropolitan Jonah discusses Book 2, "The Parables", Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 through verse 50. Topics include: (1) Many parallels with the Book of Revelation and several Old Testament books (Job, Ezekiel, Daniel, etc.); (2) The Book of Enoch as revealing a proto-Trinitarian view (The Lord of Spirits, The Elect/Anointed One, and Wisdom); (3) Wisdom is discussed at length with respect to the First Temple and the Deuteronomic reforms (cf. Jeremiah 44). The Deuteronomists were zealots / puritans who removed from the First Temple all references to Wisdom and imposed a strict monotheistic and bookish religion that was different from the multi-personal God and worship of the Patriarchs. They also altered the Scriptures to fit with their viewpoint; (4) The judgement of those who reject God and the hope of the righteous who cleave to Him. The compassion God saves the repentant, but the unrepentant are damned.
