Site page

The brethren, sisters, and parishioners of the churches of St. Olga’s Convent in Lugansk, Ukraine, headed by the monastery’s builder and spiritual advisor Archpriest Andrey Dubina, expressed sincere words of thanks on their website to Archpriest Victor Potapov, rector of St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC, for the parish’s significant financial aid and prayerful support. The monastery community also expressed their thanks to all of his parishioners who had participated in prayer and in collecting and forwarding the donations. In the words of the monastery’s website, "this kind of mutual support bears witness to the fact that, for human hearts filled with love for God and neighbor, it is never too far or too difficult to offer help to one another."

In response to the ongoing disorder and civil strife in Eastern Ukraine, the parishioners of St. John the Baptist Cathedral have collected over $1,000 for St. Olga’s Convent, and $10,000 for Ukrainian refugees in general.
